IL-19 SERIES
Sescom’s industry standard IL-19 hum eliminator removes ground loop hum, mode noise, and differentially induced hum. The bidirectional IL-19 hum eliminator plugs directly into your equipment's inputs or outputs and is available in a variety of configurations.
A hum eliminator is a device used to remove unwanted electrical hum or noise from audio signals. It is commonly used in audio systems, such as home theaters, recording studios, or live sound setups, where multiple audio components are interconnected.
Electrical hum or noise is often caused by ground loops, which occur when there are multiple paths to ground within an audio system. This can create a voltage difference between different components, resulting in a low-frequency hum or buzz in the audio signal. Ground loops are particularly common when audio equipment is connected to different power outlets or grounded through different means.
A hum eliminator works by isolating the audio signal and breaking the ground loop. It typically features input and output connectors to connect the audio sources and destination, respectively. The device uses transformers or other isolation techniques to separate the audio signal from the ground. This prevents the unwanted hum or noise from passing through, resulting in a cleaner audio signal.
